Procurements worth €160.7 million have been approved for Chernihiv Region through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
Energy Minister reported this, Denys Shmyhal said, following an inspection of the condition of energy facilities in the border areas of Chernihiv Region.
According to him, the funds will be directed towards the purchase of power transformers, high-voltage equipment, equipment for electrical substations and their protection.
During the visit, the main focus was on key substations that ensure the distribution and transmission of electricity and regularly come under Russian attack. Repair teams work around the clock and restore damaged facilities as soon as the security situation allows.
This year, work began on second-level protection at 14 substations in the region, funded from the state budget. The work is ongoing, and the minister instructed that the pace be accelerated.
Shmyhal also visited cogeneration units and other important energy facilities in the region. Among the priorities for preparations for the autumn-winter period are the development of distributed generation, the creation of equipment reserves, and the construction of shelters and protective structures.
In addition, this year energy companies in Chernihiv Region received 338.5 tonnes of equipment through the Ministry of Energy’s hubs.
As part of a UNDP project, four cogeneration units with a total capacity of 10 MW were purchased for the region.
Separately, the region received 48 generators with capacities ranging from 80 to 650 kW under Latvia’s government programme. A further 12 generators are expected to arrive.
