In border communities of Sumy and Kharkiv regions, Russian forces are trying to attack using infantry units. No such actions have been recorded in Chernihiv region.
This was reported by Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Ukrinform writes.
"The situation across the three regions – Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv – which share a common border with the terrorist state, is different. Along our border in Chernihiv region, the enemy is not using infantry units. Infantry units are trying to attack specifically within Sumy and Kharkiv regions. This situation remains most active in Kharkiv region, in particular within the Vovchansk and Vilkhuvatka communities," Demchenko said.
According to him, Russian activity is also being observed in Sumy region towards certain settlements in the Konotop and Shostka communities. However, it is significantly lower than in Kharkiv region.
Commenting on the situation with Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups, the spokesperson noted that their presence had previously been recorded in Chernihiv and Sumy regions. These groups were detected and driven out of Ukrainian territory.
"In recent days, attempts by the enemy to use sabotage and reconnaissance groups have fortunately not been recorded," Demchenko said.
At the same time, Russian forces continue to carry out heavy shelling of border areas in the three regions, using various types of weapons. The fewest strikes are recorded in Chernihiv region, while most fall on Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
"The enemy does not stop shelling the border areas of these three regions, using, it seems, all available weapons. Again, fewer strikes are recorded in Chernihiv region; as before, the majority are in Sumy and in Kharkiv," the spokesperson said.
Demchenko also reported that in Chernihiv region, Border Guard Service units are trying to destroy drones that enter from Russian territory and move towards the border with Belarus, where relay transmitters are switched on.
"In the past 24 hours alone, for example, a total of almost 40 Russian 'Shaheds' and 'Gerberas' were destroyed by units of the State Border Guard Service, most of them within Chernihiv region," the spokesperson noted.
