A court has handed down a sentence to a traitor who was planning an attempt on the life of one of the heads of the SBU’s regional directorate in Donetsk Region.
The Security Service reported this.
The suspect was detained in April this year. He was carrying out tasks for Russian handlers: a taxi driver whom the occupiers recruited through an acquaintance — a former resident of Kramatorsk who fled to the occupied part of Donetsk Region in 2014. The taxi driver first came to the FSB’s attention because of pro-Russian comments on Telegram.
In the early stages of the collaboration, the agent adjusted enemy strikes on a frontline area. While carrying out trips with passengers, he recorded the locations and movements of Ukrainian troops and equipment, then marked the relevant coordinates on interactive maps.
Later, the Russians tasked him with preparing an attempt on the life of an SBU officer. Under the guise of working as a taxi driver, the traitor monitored the official’s travel routes and main places of stay. For secrecy, the agent used a separate phone, which he hid in a stash under the floor of his flat and did not take with him when collecting information.
On the basis of evidence gathered by the SBU, the court found the man guilty of high treason committed under martial law.
