Ukraine is currently producing more electricity than it uses, but due to Russian shelling a number of regions have been forced to deal with power cuts.

This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“As of today, Ukraine is generating more than it consumes, but it is precisely because of Russian strikes on distribution substations, on our networks, that there are, unfortunately, very significant shortfalls in Kyiv and in other northern, eastern and central regions of Ukraine. We are increasing the number of repair teams, and we are supplying all the equipment that is needed,” the head of state said in his evening video address.

According to him, there were significant hits due to a shortage of Patriots.

“On the energy sector, on logistics. There was a report from the head of the Recovery Agency, Ivan Fedorov, from the Dnipro region — he is there now, in the region — on the consequences of Russian strikes, and on the time needed for reconstruction. Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih, other towns, cities and villages in the Dnipro region. Work is ongoing in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions — in our communities that are important for transmitting electricity from generation to cities,” Zelenskyy noted.
