On the Pokrovsk sector of the front, the Russian army has changed its tactics for attacks using so-called “ambush” drones.
This was reported by Kateryna Myronchuk, head of the communications unit of the 152nd Separate Ranger Brigade named after Symon Petliura, Suspilne reports.
The occupiers are now placing such drones on higher ground, where they are harder for Ukrainian troops to spot. Whereas previously the Russians left drones on roads, access tracks or footpaths, they are now looking for any location that sits above a driver’s or reconnaissance drone operator’s line of sight. According to the servicewoman, these are mostly fibre-optic drones, which are also concealed in hard-to-reach places.
To supply units, the Defence Forces are using ground drones and bomber drones.
As Myronchuk noted, 80% of logistics to forward positions is handled by ground robotic systems and large hexacopter drones. Although the Russians control the routes in and out, and rain and mud make operations more difficult, Ukrainian defenders are using platforms upgraded for such conditions.
