"Since the start of the epidemic outbreak, we have registered 37 fatalities caused by A-type flu complications. In all these cases, the patients requested medical assistance too late after they fell sick," the director of the healthcare department of the Kiev city state administration, Tetyana Donchenko, said.
According to the latest reports, there were 1,059 patients with acute respiratory disease (742) and flu (317, of them 31 in emergency care) in Kiev's hospitals.
Since the end of September, when the epidemic season started in Ukraine, there have been 185 confirmed deaths caused by flu.
Over 3.3 million people, or 8.5% of the population, have had a flu. The highest rate was registered in Kiev Region and Kiev, where 14.4% and 12.2% caught it. The lowest rate is in Transcarpathian Region (5.3%) and Kharkiv Region (3.6%).
