Ukraine's Ushenina wins European chess gold

Ukrainian Anna Ushenina, 30, became the new European women’s chess champion.

The victory of Kharkiv city resident’s in the 2016 continental championship in the Romanian town of Mamaia came on the hills of a similar success demonstrated by Nataliya Zhukova of Odesa last year.

Ushenina, who scored 8.5 points out of 11, won one and had three draws in the first four games, but then secured five victories in a row.

Ushenina added her continental title to her list of resounding victories. She’s World Champion in the individual standings, Olympic champion, winner of the team championship of the world and Europe as a part the national team of Ukraine.

President Petro Poroshenko has congratulated Ukrainian woman with a victory.
