Nadiya Savchenko, a member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, stated in favour of phasing out the EU sanctions against Russia as the Russian side implements the necessary conditions.

Speaking to Zhanna Nemtsova on DW, Savchenko said she believed that the EU sanctions against Russia should be "more personal" and refer to specific individuals, while the economic sanctions should "phased out and cancelled over time."

"I do not think we have to slide into a third world war," said Savchenko.

"Europe can and should be in a civilized talk with Russia in the language of economics and politics," but "it makes no sense to get engaged in talks with openly corrupt people who only mind their own selfish interests," she said.

"Of course, a bear in the master in taiga, but at some stage he's got to be tamed," Savchenko said in an interview published on the DW website on 21 June.
