The world community attempts to transform Russia into a partner were crossed out because of her actions in Crimea and South Ossetia, former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney has stated, Ukrinform’s own Ottawa correspondent reports.
"Attempts to engage Russia as a partner in resolving security issues in Europe have been shattered in the sands of Crimea and South Ossetia," said Mulroney.
He said the main difficulty facing NATO now is containment of the Russian expansion. "The main challenge now is how to prevent the further expansion of Russia, and to secure that the NATO states bordering on Russia, especially Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, would be safe and under NATO’s wing," the former prime minister noted.
