Rundown heritage building collapses in Odessa

Homeless people may be buried under the debris

The historical building of the Russian Technical Society, known as the Masonic House, collapsed in Odesa .at around 2 pm on 20 July/

The publication Dumskaya with reference to eyewitness reports that that homeless people can be buried under the debris.

The building by architects Alexander Bernardazzi and Edward Mesner was built in 1887-1892, and had been in the state of disrepair. Last August, the Odessa regional council sold the Masonic house at an auction. The buyer was obliged to refurbish the building. However, the contract has never been signed because of the delays in the Odessa Regional State Administration.
