Moldova's breakaway Dniester region has said it has stepped up border security until 12 December, according to Ukrinform.
"Border agencies have switched to tightened border security control until 12 December 2016," the press service of the Dniester KGB said.
The Dniester region will elect its president on 11 December. The frontrunners are current Dniester leader Yevgeniy Shevchuk and parliament speaker Vadim Krasnoselskiy.
