On 11 February, Avdiyivka was cut from power supply as a result of shelling again. The Avdiyivka coking plant, which keeps the town's heating system running, and the Donetsk filtering station, which supplies water to the town, were also left without electricity.
"At around 2.30 p.m., a power line to Avdiyivka was damaged by shelling. The town, the coking plant and the Donetsk filtering station are without power supply. Using a well-tested algorithm, we are switching the town's vital facilities to alternative power supply. We filed a request with the Joint Centre for Coordination and Control to hold repairs at the power line," the head of the Donetsk regional military-civil administration, Pavlo Zhebrivskyy, said on Facebook.
Avdiyivka was cut from power by shelling on several occasions. Last time it happened on 5 March and caused the power blackout of the town and the Donetsk filtering station until 7 March.
