The situation in the zone of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) in Donbass region remains tense as militants waged 82 attacks against the positions of Ukrainian servicemen on 12 March, the ATO HQ has said on Facebook.
"In breach of the Minsk deal, militants are shelling the positions of Ukrainian defenders with the weapons of over 100 mm in calibre," the report said.
In the Mariupol sector, the occupants fired with 120-mm mortars on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of Shyrokyne, Novotroyitske, Maryinka and Krasnohorivka. Shyrokyne was also shelled by an enemy tank. Militants used 82-mm mortars, heavy machine guns and grenade launchers to target Hnutove. Vodyane was shelled by an IFV, while Pavlopil and Chermalyk were pounded with heavy machine guns and grenade launchers of various systems.
In the Donetsk sector, Avdiyivka was the hottest spot. Here, in addition to small arms, heavy machine guns and grenade launchers of various systems, militants used mortars and tanks, and around 19:00 - ML-21 Grad. The ATO positions near Nevelske, Verkhnyotoretske, Zaytseve, Opytne and Kamyanka were shelled with 82-mm mortars, while IFVs and anti-tank guns were used against the Butivka coalmine. Luhanske came under fire from 120-mm mortars.
In the Luhansk sector, using heavy machine guns and grenade launchers, terrorists fired on the positions of the Ukrainian military in the area of Valuyske, Novooleksandrivka and Novozvanivka, and fired 120-mm mortars on the ATO fortifications in the area of Krymske.
"The ATO forces opened fire to quell the enemy's fire. Five Ukrainian defenders were wounded during the day," the report said.
