On Thursday, 15 June, one Ukrainian soldier was killed in action as a result of enemy shelling in Donbas.
Throughout the day, militants 50 times opened fire at the ATO units along the entire front line. There were nine instances of the enemy's use of weapons prohibited under the Minsk agreements were recorded. The Russian-backed terrorists twice shelled residential quarters in frontline settlements, ATO headquarters said in a release on 16 June.
Nearly half of the shelling attacks were the coastal sector. On Thursday morning, the enemy shelled the residential quarters of Maryinka from the rocket artillery systems. Fortunately, none of the civilians were wounded.
On this section of the front, the militants used 120-mm mortars during the day in the area of Maryinka, Pavlopil, Shyrokyne and Vodyane. In the vicinity of Krasnohorivka and Talakivka, the enemy fired 82-mm mortars. In addition, a number of armed provocations were recorded near Hnutove, Lebedynske, Chermalyk and Novomykhailivka, where militants led fire of varying intensity from grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms.
In the Donetsk sector, Russian-backed terrorist forces carried out 13 shelling attacks at the defensive fortifications of the ATO forces. From the suburbs of the temporarily occupied Horlivka, the enemy fired 122-mm artillery at the positions of the ATO forces stationed near the village of Pivdenne. Also, militants intensively fired at the ATO strong points in the area of Kamyanka from tanks and 120-mm mortars. From the same mortars, the militants fired from the Donetsk airport by the Ukrainian military, who are holding the defence near Pisky. In the evening, the situation was tense at the southern and north-eastern suburbs of Avdiyivka, which were shelled from 82-mm mortars and infantry weapons.
In the Luhansk sector, the enemy carried out 13 armed provocations, most of them after 6 pm. In particular, late in the evening the militants fired several 120-mm projectiles at Ukrainian positions near Katerynivka. In the same location and in the area of Shchstya and Krymske, the enemy used 82-mm mortars. The militants fired three mortar projectiles directly into one of Shchstya's residential quarters. Fortunately, none of the local residents suffered.
The militants also fired grenade launchers of various modifications and small arms at the ATO forces stationed in the areas of Novozvanivka, Malynove, Donets, Valuiske, Novooleksandrivka, Popasna and Stanytsya Luhanska.
On 14 June, one civilian was killed, and three Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in Donbas hostilities.
