Ukraine blocks Crimean representative at OSCE conference

The Ukrainian delegation argued Russia does not include "the Republic of Crimea".

The Ukrainian delegation has prevented a representative of the Union of Journalists of the Republic of Crimea, Andrey Trofimov, from speaking at the OSCE conference on free media in Warsaw.

Ukraine's representative Andriy Chesnokov said that there is no such structure as "the Republic of Crimea" in the Russian Federation. The moderator consulted the regulations expert and then suggested that Trofimov either speak in the capacity in which he registered for the session or let someone else speak.

The Russian propagandist TV Zvezda published the video of the incident on Facebook.

Russia's permanent envoy to the OSCE, Aleksandr Lukashevich, said that "he never heard anything like this in his life" and promised that Russia would protest against the moderators' decision.

Russia annexed Crimea in March 2014 following an armed incursion and an orchestrated referendum.
