During the working visit to the United States President Petro Poroshenko on 21 September met with the President of France Emmanuel Macron. As reported on the president's website, the two presidents expressed their satisfaction with the state of implementation of the agreements reached during Poroshenko's visit to France on 26 June.
A special attention was paid to the situation in Donbas and the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Leaders of the two countries have coordinated positions on the future work of the "Normandy format" and approaches to the implementation of the initiative to deploy a Ukrainian peacekeeping operation in Donbas.
Poroshenko and Macron stressed the importance of compliance with comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire in the ATO zone, and progress in the release of hostages.
Ukrainian president thanked Macron's wife for supporting the family of Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko illegally held in Russia.
The interlocutors also discussed bilateral economic issues.
Poroshenko invited Makron visit Ukraine at his earliest convenience.
Poroshenko in his address in the UN Security Council in New York called for the deployment of Ukrainian peacekeepers in Donbas.
