A Ukrainian national suspected of espionage was detained in Simferopol, Russia-annexed Crimea on 11 February, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has said. The FSB identified him as Kostyantyn Oleksandrovych Davydenko.

"The mentioned person has deliberately collected and transferred to the special services of Ukraine information constituting state secrets about the units and formations of the Federal Service of Troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation and about FSB servicemen, whose leak abroad may have undermined the country's security," the FSB said.

A criminal case was opened under Article 276 of the Russian Criminal Code (espionage).

Last December, Russia refused to transfer Ukrainian national Valentyn Vyhovskyy, who was convicted of espionage, to serve his term in Ukraine.
