On 28 March, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Oleh Petrenko as head of the National Health Service, Ukrainian News has quoted Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan as saying. Petrenko was a deputy director-general for strategic development at the Isida IVF clinic.
Before Isida, he was the first deputy director-general at the Oberih clinic and an adviser to the health minister in 2005-06.
He was also involved in the development of the concept of health reform.
Petrenko was selected among 14 candidates in an open competition held in the winter.
The National Health Service was established in late December 2017 and is expected to become operational in mid-2018. It is essential to implementing health reform. It will sign contracts with hospitals whose doctors will be compensated from the budget for every patient assigned to them.
