Canada is working on the liberalisation of visa regulations with Ukraine but will not cancel visas, ambassador Roman Waschuk has said in a commentary to LB.ua at the Kyiv Security Forum."I would not talk about a possible visa-free regime between Ukraine and Canada. Everything depends on migration flows we are observing," he added.

"Canada's visa policy depends on the factors that are important to us. We only cancelled visas for Romania and Bulgaria, which have been EU members for more than 10 years, at the end of last year. This is a gradual process. Representatives of our embassy and the Migration Ministry hold meetings in Ukraine. We will be looking for ways of step-by-step liberalisation of visa regulations," Waschuk said.

Ukraine and Canada launched consultations on visa liberalisation in the summer of 2016.

Canada began issuing multiple-entry visas to Ukrainian citizens for a period of 10 years. It also simplified visa requirements.
