Ukrainian MP Nadiya Savchenko, who is under arrest in the remand centre of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin in which she asked him to pardon all Ukrainian political prisoners.
She posted a photocopy of the letter on her Facebook page on 13 June. She attached a list of 66 "Ukrainian political prisoners detained in Russian territory" to the letter.
"I ask you to decide on the pardon and do this step to make possible peace on Ukrainian soil, peace between the Ukrainian and Russian peoples and peace in international relations between Russia and Ukraine and other countries of the civilized democratic community, which is important for the Russian Federation, based on your statements," she said. "I am confident the Ukrainian and Russian peoples will leave in peace."
