Student withdraws allegations, apologises to officer

She suggested "hackers from Russia" may have been involved in the "provocation".

Kyiv student Natalya Bureyko, who accused police officer Oleksandr Varchenko of harassing her on the Tinder dating app, has backtracked and apologized to him on Facebook.

She said she "did not have a full picture of the situation".

"I wanted to protect myself but did not know it could harm other people. […] I fell victim to a cynical provocation against Oleksandr and his wife," Bureyko said.

"I assume the account could have been created by hackers from Russia to discredit officials of the National Police and the State Investigation Bureau. I apologise to Oleksandr Varchenko and his family," she added.
