The EU Foreign Affairs Council on 18 February will consider the introduction of individual sanctions against Russian nations over the country's aggressive actions in the Kerch Strait, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said, according to Interfax-Ukraine.

"There will certainly be individual sanctions. You will hear about them from Federica Mogherini on Monday, it is not all. We are discussing other ideas too," he told journalists in Munich on 16 February.

He added that the council would also discuss support for Donbas and restriction of access for Russian vessels.

He expects US sanctions to follow soon.

Earlier, it was reported that the EU had agreed sanctions against eight Russians over the Russian violent attack on Ukrainian sailors off the Kerch Strait.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko earlier said that the EU would approve the "Azov package" of sanctions against Russia next week.
