President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine would start building the bridge in Stanytsya Luhanska, Luhansk Region in eight days even if pro-Russian militants fail to deliver on the agreement. He was speaking at a news conference in the wake of the Ukraine-EU summit, according to an LB.ua correspondent.
"We will wait for a week, eight days at most. Even if we do not see any dismantling works on the other side, we will start building the bridge," Zelenskyy said.
He said that "there are ideas how to do it fast" within a month and said that the project would be carried out by civilians. He also promised "electric cars and buses" to drive people from the bridge to the checkpoint on the line of contact.
The overdue disengagement of forces near Stanytsya Luhanska was completed on 30 June.
