Parliament speaker Andriy Parubiy has once again explained to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy why he has turned down his request for an emergency session and asked the head of state to bring his motion in line with law.
"I have to repeat once again that your motion dated 17 July 2019 was not in accordance with the requirements of current legislation. Yesterday I politely asked you to correct this mistake. I also provided a well-substantiated, detailed and comprehensive legal justification. If you really want an extraordinary session rather than demonstrating an election show, your office without any difficulties could quickly and efficiently bring the text of the president’s letter to the Supreme Court in accordance with the requirements of the law and hand it over to parliament's office without delay. And, as I have already noted, I will ensure an extraordinary session as soon as possible," he said on Facebook.
He added that he was prepared to sign an instruction on an extraordinary session once he received a proper relevant motion.
