Ex-President Viktor Yanukovych's former Finance Minister Yuriy Kolobov visited Ukraine in late August.

LB.ua has learnt that on 28 August, Kolobov arrived at Boryspil airport from Austria. His Ukraine entry stamp was "cancelled". He departed from Boryspil airport for Paris on 30 August.

The State Border Service told LB.ua that he could not share information on the matter over privacy law.

Kolobov has been staying abroad since 2014.

In September 2014, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) opened a case against Kolobov and other members of Mykola Azarov's government on suspicion of state budget embezzlement during the issue of government domestic loan bonds worth $3bn and their sale to Russia. According to the SBU, the former officials transferred a $450,000 fee to VTB Capital plc (a London-based affiliate of the Russian bank VTB) for the placement of these securities.

The Prosecutor-General's Office also investigated Kolobov on suspicion of embezzling 220m hryvnyas from the state budget. On 20 January 2015, Kyiv's Pecherskyy district court arrested him in absentia.

Kolobov was detained in Spain's Valencia in March 2015 but the local authorities refused to extradite him to Ukraine and issued him with a residence permit.

In 2018, it was reported that the cases against Kolobov were closed.
