The Russian army struck at the military base of 95 separate airborne assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Zhytomyr.
It was reported by the Deputy of Kiev City Council Oleksandr Pogrebysky, information was also confirmed by sources in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Photos and videos of the destruction went public on social networks. There are also reports of casualties.
Pogrebysky said that the brigade itself is currently doing its job in the east of the country.
"95 separate assault landing brigade went to Horlivka and took under control a part of the city! I am proud of my brigade!" - the deputy wrote on Facebook.
Mayor of Zhytomyr Serhiy Sukhomlyn also said that the air strike affected hospitals and houses.
"Everyone heard powerful explosions. This is the area Hospital №2 n.a. after Pavlusenko. It was an air strike! It hit the hospital itself and several private houses nearby. They hit right the residential building. As for now the consequences of the strike are not fully known; the windows and the doors of the hospital are smashed.; firefighters are working there. Air strike on the hospital is no longer a crime, but an agony of powerlessness," - the mayor said.
Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs Anton Herashchenko also added that the Russian military missed and struck residential areas.
"I just spoke to the Mayor of Zhytomyr Serhiy Sukhomlyn. Russian scoundrels - rocket launchers or pilots - missed and hit not the military base, but a residential buildings of the private sector of the city. As for now there are four dead, including a child. Foreign journalists are already going to the site. "Scumbags, you are destroying peaceful Ukrainians. Even if after the occupation of Crimea, some still treated you well by mistake, now there are simply no such people in Ukraine," - Gerashchenko wrote in the Telegram channel.
Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russian servicemen, who turned out to be residents of Some Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions (ORDLO), were detained in Donetsk direction.
