Kuleba to meet Lavrov tomorrow: expectations are low, but we will squeeze as much as possible

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, plans to meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Sergei Lavrov on Thursday, March 10.

According to Kuleba, currently, the diplomats are preparing for negotiations.

“We are doing serious work to conduct them as effectively as possible, but I will be honest - our expectations are restrained. I do not have high expectations, but we will definitely squeeze out as much as possible,” he said.

The Ukrainian side has three objectives: to a cease-fire, liberate our territories, and solve all the humanitarian catastrophes that the Russian army has caused.

"Thanks to the actions of Ukraine's defense forces, their heroism, the inviolability of President Zelenskyy's position, our joint coordinated actions with partners to impose sanctions, support Ukraine's defense, and isolate Russia, I am going to these talks with a strong position. We are strong, we are confident," Kuleba said.

What Ukraine will get in the end is another question.

“It depends, in particular, from the instructions and directives that Lavrov has going into these negotiations. I hope that he is going to these negotiations in good faith: not from a propaganda perspective but with the task to find a solution to stop this war, which Russia has started. Wish me and my team success; we will appreciate this moral support. This is a critical moment, and I am sure that whatever the outcome of these negotiations is, we will pass it with dignity because we are Ukrainians,” the minister summarized.

The trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Turkey, and Russia will take place tomorrow in Turkish Antalya.
