1,170 civilians died in Mariupol during two weeks of the war due to shelling and deliberate killing. Deputy mayor Serhiy Orlov reported it on Wednesday, March 9, the Center for Strategic Communications and Countering Disinformation says. 

“At least 1,170 people died, 47 were buried today in a mass grave,” Orlov said. 

He stressed that the city is under constant Russian shelling; it is a genocide of Ukrainians. 

“People are without water, heating, electricity, gas; residents are melting snow to drink and burning wood. What else is it other than a real genocide of Ukrainians started by Putin and his generals! We will not forgive Moscow invaders the elimination of Ukrainian people!” Serhiy Orlov said. 

Earlier today, Russian occupiers launched an artillery shelling on maternity hospital #2 in Mariupol. According to the witnesses, there is no maternity hospital anymore. There are a lot of wounded and dead women. 

According to the head of the Donetsk State Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, the maternity ward, and the hospital, children's ward, and therapy ward, were destroyed.
