Serhiy Khlan, Kherson regional council deputy and former MP of the Verkhovna Rada, announced that the occupiers called the Kherson regional council deputies with a proposal.
According to him, the Russians wanted to hold a referendum on creating the Kherson People's Republic. Ultimately, the deputy refused and called on colleagues to do the same.
"I appeal to all deputies of the Kherson Regional Council. Dear colleagues, I am sure you understand the consequences of your decision. Creating the Kherson People's Republic will turn our region into a hopeless hole, without life and future. Please do not give them any vote! Do not allow them to legitimize KPR! The whole state will look at you, and there can be no excuses for cooperation with the occupiers!" Hlan stressed.
He also noted that the situation is much more complicated in Mariupol, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Hostomel, but they do not give up.
"Become part of Ukrainian history not as traitors that no one needs, but really as citizens whose names future generations will remember," Khlan urged his colleagues.
