President Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not see a coherent position of NATO members on Ukraine's accession to the Alliance in the future.
He noted that this position had not existed before. At a briefing for foreign journalists, the head of state stressed that even on the issue of closing the sky to enemy aircraft over Ukraine and supplying some weapons, NATO members did not agree.
Zelenskyy said if Ukraine joined the Alliance, it would do everything to show that one country has no right to resort to such aggression as Russia does.
The President noted that Ukraine appreciates the support of individual NATO countries and is grateful for the Alliance's help.
"But you know, it hurts now. It burns now, and we need to be helped with artificial respiration when a person is hard right now. We can't say that our door is open. Whereto, is this door open, into another world? And we still want to live on earth. That's why we are fighting." he said.
From the first day of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, the government asked to close the sky to enemy aircraft and missiles. At the summit, NATO decided not to do so. Zelenskyy called the decision of the NATO summit not to close the sky over Ukraine "self-hypnosis" and a false narrative of the Alliance.
