The US Senate has condemned Putin as a war criminal

The US Senate has unanimously passed a resolution condemning Russian President Vladimir Putin as a war criminal. Senators of both parties supported the document, reports Reuters.

The resolution, presented by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague and other countries to target the Russian military in any investigation into war crimes committed during Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"All of us in this hall have joined forces with Democrats and Republicans to declare that Vladimir Putin cannot escape responsibility for atrocities committed against the Ukrainian people," said Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

Earlier, the head of the US State Department, Anthony Blinken, confirmed the intention of the United States to bring Vladimir Putin to justice for the bombing of Ukrainian cities. "Today, I had a conversation with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba," the Secretary of State wrote. "I reaffirmed the United States' continued support for the Ukrainian people and its intention to hold Putin accountable for his unjustified and inhumane bombing of Ukraine," the statement said.
