The German office of Metro company threatened the Ukrainian office to cut off the supply of goods due to its pressure on the corporation to withdraw from Russia.

Businessman and Former Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Dmytro Dubilet said about it

He said that the Ukrainian office of Metro company from the first day of the war, began contacting the German office with a demand to stop operations in Russia. However, in response, the German office started threatening the Ukrainian office that if they did not stop the pressure, Ukraine would be cut off from centralized procurement and supply of goods, which could lead to a complete suspension of business in Ukraine altogether.

Dmytro Dubilet repeated the words of employees of Ukrainian office of Metro company: "We talk to our colleagues at the Düsseldorf campus at different levels - they claim that the decision to stay in Russia was made by the Supervisory Board solely, without any negotiation with either employees or investors. Everyone was simply faced with the fact”.

Dubilet also reminded that in 2014 METRO AG re-registered two supermarkets in the Crimea to a separate legal entity in the Russian Federation to avoid sanctions.

Earlier, the Ukrainian government called on international business to stop its activities in Russia and not to support the economy of the aggressor country.

In particular, on March 17, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba called on Nestle to stop financing Russian war crimes.

Since the beginning of Russian full-scale invasion, more than 200 global companies have stopped or suspended their operations in Russia.
