Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine asks to facilitate a quick positive conclusion of the European Commission on accelerating Ukraine's membership in the European Union
This was announced by the Speaker of the Ukrainian parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk on Facebook.
He noted that the EU's decision on urgent European integration will be a key factor in deterring Russian aggression.
"We are on our way to the EU 24/7, every day. We are looking for the fastest route, avoiding the congestion caused by bureaucracy. Our desire to be part of the European family is so strong that we are not stopped by any circumstances, paying the highest price - thousands of lives of Ukrainians. Such a price was not paid by any nation, no country that is a member of the EU, "- wrote the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.
Stefanchuk stressed that the leadership of the parliament and representatives of various factions and groups addressed the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola and Ursula von der Leyen - President of the European Commission - Fanpage with a request to facilitate a quick positive conclusion of the European Commission on Ukraine's EU membership.
"The EU's decision on urgent European integration will be a key factor in deterring Russian aggression. As well as a fair reward for the Ukrainian people for their struggle for freedom, democracy and European values!" Stefanchuk assured.
Earlier the poll showed that 71% of respondents from France, Germany, Italy and Poland approve of Ukraine's accession to the EU.
On February 26, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called on the European Union to support Ukraine by providing prospects for EU membership.
