The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution "Humanitarian consequences of aggression against Ukraine." The document reaffirms Russia's sole responsibility for the humanitarian consequences of the war.
The resolution calls on Russia to immediately cease shelling of civilians and civilian infrastructure, to end the siege of cities and to ensure unhindered access for humanitarian personnel and the delivery of aid. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The UN General Assembly also calls for the protection of civilians during the evacuation.
The resolution also warns of the possible consequences of Russia's aggression on global food security, as well as the possible environmental consequences of shelling of nuclear facilities.
UN member states stressed the need for full implementation of the UN General Assembly resolution of March 2, 2022 "Aggression against Ukraine", and also tasked the UN Emergency Response Coordinator to prepare a report on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.
140 countries voted in favor, 5 against. These are Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, Russia and Syria.
The adopted resolution was the result of collective and thorough efforts of more than two dozen countries from all over the world, with 90 countries as co-authors.
