Oleksiy Arestovych, Adviser to the Head of the President's Office, announced during a briefing that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had launched small tactical counter-offensive attacks in four regions.
These are Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv and Kherson regions.
"In the past 24 hours, the state of affairs and the enemy's actions haven't changed, except one small thing. Our troops have launched small, tactical, but counter-offensive operations in Sumy and Kharkiv regions and continue them in Kyiv and Kherson regions. We are going on a small but counter-offensive," Arestovych said.
He urged not to torture captured Russian soldiers because it is a war crime.
"As we counterattacked in some areas, there will be many prisoners of war. I want to remind our servicemen, civilians, and defence forces once again that the abuse of prisoners is a war crime with no amnesty under international law and no statute of limitations. We are the European army of a European country. We treat prisoners following the Geneva Convention, no matter your emotional motives," he added.
The director of the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, Kyrylo Budanov, reported that the Russian president Vladimir Putin changed the main operational directions in the war to the south and east after failures near Kyiv and the impossibility to overthrow the central government of Ukraine.
