In the temporarily occupied territories, the enemy keeps violating the requirements of International humanitarian law. They resort to kidnapping and intimidating local residents, and keeping Ukrainian civilians hostage.
This is reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Due to the disruption of rear supply to Russian occupiers by the Defence Forces subdivisions, the invaders in Ivankiv and Orane settlements ask residents for food and don’t show any aggression in their behaviour. No facts of looting have been recorded.
It has been noted that Russian occupying troops continue the militarisation of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Zone of Alienation. It significantly increases the risk of damaging the isolating structures, which were built over the fourth power block of the plant after its explosion in 1986. Such damage will inevitably result in a substantial amount of radioactive dust getting into the atmosphere. This will mean contamination of not just Ukraine but also other European countries. The occupying forces of the Russian Federation ignore the threats and warnings. They are still transporting and keeping large amounts of ammunition in direct proximity to the nuclear power plant.
Tens of tons of rockets, tube artillery shells, and mortar ammunition are transported every day by subdivisions of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces from the logistic base deployed in the Naraulianski district of the Gomel region of the Republic of Belarus. The invaders’ transport corridor goes through the city of Prypyat and a few hundred meters away from the isolating structure of the nuclear plant.
Further storage of ammunition is provided in Chornobyl, the city neighbouring with Prypyat, which is also situated not far away from the nuclear plant. In Chornobyl, occupiers have deployed a temporary command post of the army groups of the Eastern Military District, and a command post of the 38th Guards Motor Rifle Brigade.
According to the available information, Russian occupying forces use old and second-rate ammunition. For instance, the 165th Artillery Brigade from Belogorsk in the Amur region, which belongs to the army group, got permission to use the type of ammunition mentioned above. This increases the risk of its detonation even during loading or transportation. The facts of such self-detonation of ammunition in Russian military warehouses are well known. It happens regularly.
The Ukrainian defence forces still cause losses for the enemy in all directions.
As a reminder, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have begun carrying out small tactical counter-offensive operations in four of the regions.
