Exhibition dedicated to Ukraine opens in MoMA

The Museum of Modern Art in New York has opened an exhibition in solidarity with Ukraine. Information about it is available on the official website of the museum.

The exhibition is located in one of the MoMA galleries (gallery 507) and presents works by artists related to Ukraine from the museum's collection. In particular, it presents works by Kazimir Malevich, David Burliuk, Sonia Delaunay-Terk, Vasily Ermilov, Ilya Kabakov and others.

An excerpt from Serhiy Zhadan's work in Ukrainian and English is also on display.

“The gallery presents a selection of works created during the last century by artists born in modern Ukraine. Some spent their years in Kyiv, while others traveled to distant places — Moscow, Berlin, or Paris — to join the boldest vanguards of their time. A number of artists, many of them of Jewish descent, have found safe haven from persecution in New York. The works on view, executed in various mediums, reflect a wide range of approaches: from abstraction to representation, from mechanical to the handmade, the everyday to the mystical. We have brought them together at this time as a statement of solidarity with, and in tribute to, the people of Ukraine,” the museum said in a statement.

Earlier during the Oscar ceremony, which took place in Los Angeles on the night of 28 March, there was a minute of silence to honor the victims of the Russian war in Ukraine. This happened after the American actress of Ukrainian origin Mila Kunis came on stage to announce the performance of Reba McEntire with the song Somehow You Do from the movie "Four Good Days".
