Russia has received written proposals from Ukraine confirming its commitment to a neutral and non-nuclear status. Written proposals include refusing to manufacture and deploy all types of weapons of mass destruction.
This was announced by the representative of Russia in the talks Vladimir Medinsky following the talks in Istanbul, TASS reports.
He called the talks between Russia and Ukraine constructive.
Medinsky said that Russia would consider Ukraine’s proposals, they would be reported to Putin, the BBC reports.
According to Medinsky, the meeting of Presidents Putin and Zelensky is possible simultaneously with the initialing (preliminary signing) of the agreement between Russia and Ukraine at the level of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
The talks with Russia began today at 10:00 in Istanbul. The Ukrainian delegation was represented by Mykhailo Podoliak, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Oleksiy Reznikov, Andriy Kostin, Mykola Tochytsky, and Rustem Umerov. The delegation also included diplomat Oleksandr Chaly and General Oleksandr Kyrylenko, Deputy Chief of the General Staff.
As part of the talks, representatives of the delegations, Davyid Arahamia from the Ukrainian side and former Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation and Vladimir Putin's aide Vladimir Medinsky met.
Following the talks, Arahamiya said that Ukraine was working on the format, preparing proposals, but did not sign anything. NATO guarantor countries will hold consultations for three days. Guarantor countries will be required to aid, including military and sky protection.
