The United States is ready to take part in the implementation of the agreements on Ukraine's security between Moscow and Kyiv.
This was announced on Tuesday, March 29, by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
“If there is a result, and our support for Ukraine can be part of that result, including support for its security and defense, then, of course, we want to strive for that,” Blinken said during the press conference with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
He added that he does not see positive changes in Russia's negotiations with Ukraine, but considers it a good signal if Kyiv sees them, “Interfax-Ukraine” reports.
"It is up to the Ukrainian partners to decide whether there are any changes or progress ... If it is concluded in Ukraine that they (positive changes - ed.) are there, it is good," Blinken stated.
As reported, today at the negotiations in Istanbul, Ukraine proposed a new international agreement on security guarantees. The document stipulates that in case of any aggression against Ukraine, consultations must take place within three days, after which the guarantor countries must provide Ukraine with military assistance, armed forces, weapons, and close the airspace.
Ukraine sees the countries of the UN Security Council as its guarantors. These are Britain, China, Russia, USA, France, Turkey, Germany, Canada, Italy, Poland, Israel. Other countries can become guarantors too if they wish.
The agreement must be signed and ratified by all guarantor countries, which, in turn, will not object to and assist Ukraine's accession to the EU.
