“The POM-3 mine is equipped with a special electronic component that manages signals from a seismic sensor and triggers an explosive part. This component receives the signal about the vibration around the mine and compares it with the recorded vibration signature samples. If they match the vibration after the human steps and such vibration has enough amplitude for an approaching human, it triggers an explosive part. The explosive part is launched 1-1,5 m above the ground and explodes,” – explained the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

POM-3 “Medallion” mines are produced only in Russia.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, if the person has noticed this type of mine, he or she is restricted to approach it. This person should not allow anyone to approach it and should notify the police or other emergency agencies.

Recently the Russian Federation has shelled Krasnogorivka (Donetsk region) by the forbidden cluster munition. Also, occupiers shot with the multiple launch rocket system the position of the 128th special mountain assault brigade from Zakarpattia. Most cluster munitions damaged peaceful settlements far from the firing range.
