Ukraine has prepared a package of documents for a personal meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin, which they gave to the Russian delegation during the negotiations in Istanbul, “RBK-Ukraine” reports citing the advisor to the Head of the President’s Office, Mykhailo Podoliak.
“We have developed a package of documents, which we are presenting, and proposals we handed over to the Russian side, saying that we could start preparing for the Presidents’ meeting. When exactly it will happen is a logistical issue, as Russians need to go over our proposals and provide us with a preliminary response,” Polodiak said.
Podoliak noted that the meeting of the heads of state is possible after the Russian Federation considers all the details of the agreement on the security guarantees.
“The key agreement is the one on the security guarantees, which solves the issues of war and peace … Probably, we can come to an understanding that a meeting of the Presidents can take place in the near future. It is impossible to say exactly when it can happen,” he said.
Podoliak also commented on the referendum on the peace agreement with the Russian Federation. According to him, the national referendum can take place only after “the Russian military leaves our territory. When they withdraw to the borders on the positions as of at least 23 February 2022.”
On 29 March, the sixth round of negotiations between Ukrainian and Russian delegations took place in Turkey. During the meeting, the sides discussed the concept of the peace agreement. The Ukrainian side insisted that the UN Security Council countries, including Turkey and the United States, should become the signatories of the peace treaty.
