Russia is illegally extracting water from Kakhovka Reservoir of the lower basin of Dnipro River and actually has stolen it by 620m. hryvnias.

This is stated in the material of the Center of Journalistic Investigations "How the occupiers seized the "switch" of the North Crimean Canal."

"According to estimates by the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine, Russia has already stolen the Dnieper water for almost 620m. hryvnias. According to the Department, due to partial depressurization of the hydraulic structure of the North Crimean Canal, illegal water intake from Kakhovka Reservoir of the lower basin of Dnipro River is being carried out," the text says.

In the context of international armed conflict, such actions of the country occupier may be qualified as a war crime. After all, the Russian military seized civilian infrastructure, which couldn’t be used for military purposes.

The Russian military also blew up a bridge connecting the North Crimean Canal with Krasnoznamensk Canal, which irrigates Skadovsk district of the Kherson region and has nothing to do with Crimea. Because of that, the water began to flow uncontrollably along both channels. Due to this, severe flooding began in the residential sector in Nova Mayachka village.

Recall, the Russian military blew up the dam blocking water supply from Dnipro to Crimea on the North Crimean channel at the beginning of war, on February 26.
