The “Ukrainian Witness” project revealed how the residents of Trostianets welcomed the first humanitarian aid after the liberation from the russian occupiers, as well as how they were supporting each other.
The city was under occupation for a month and was under continual destruction, shelling and bombing. People were living in fear.
"My neighbor has a young son. They found his berets. They almost shot him," the territorial defense fighter said.
The city is currently liberated, however, the danger still remains. Public places, forests and roads can be mined. According to the mayor, on the first day after liberation, the couple exploded on a stretcher. SES, sappers and the military are working on de-mining.
Now humanitarian aid has begun to arrive to Trostianets. Residents with tears in their eyes were welcoming the first cargo. They spent the last days of the occupation on the verge of starvation, as shops and grocery warehouses were looted. The military is determined and ready to defend their city in the event of another attack by the russians.
“Our bones will lie here, but we will not let them in here," the fighter says.
Earlier "Ukrainian witness" published a video with the story of the 95-year-old woman evacuated from the Kiev region and what she had to live through for three weeks of war against russia.
