Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi has said that telephone conversations about the war with Vladimir Putin are vain because they do not lead to any results.

Draghi said about this in his interview with Corriere Della Sera.

In a telephone conversation, I told him [Putin] that I was calling to talk about peace. I asked him, "When are you meeting with Zelenskyy? Only you two can decide. "He replied," The time has not yet come. "I insisted," Decide on the seize-fire. "And again," No, the time has not yet come”. Then he explained about the payment for gas in rubles, which had not yet been introduced. We said goodbye and promised to meet in a few days.

Then the horror of Bucha has come. I'm starting to think that those who say it's useless to talk to him are right, it's just a waste of time. I have always defended Macron, and I continue to say that, as President of the EU, he is right in trying to use all possible means of dialogue. But I have the impression that the horror of the war, with its massacre, with what they have done to children and women, does not depend at all on words and phone calls”.
