Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has handed over to the head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, a completed questionnaire to get the European Union membership candidate status. This was reported on the website of the Head of the State.
At the same time, Zelenskyy noted that our state's accession to the EU comes at “a very tragic time, when many Ukrainians, who believe in European values, are losing their lives”.
“However, the people of Ukraine are united by this goal: of feeling equal, part of Europe, part of the European Union,” Zelenskyy stated.
He expressed the hope that Ukraine would receive support and become a candidate for EU membership.
“We believe that this procedure will take place in the coming weeks and that it will be positive for the history of our people, given the price they have paid on the way to independence and democracy,” the President said.
The head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, said that answers will be analyzed very quickly.
The questionnaire to get the European Union membership candidate status was handed to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy personally by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen during her visit to Kyiv on April 8.
