The new U.S. aid package for Ukraine includes more than 121 Phoenix Ghost systems, which the U.S. Air Force has developed specifically for the needs of Ukraine.
This was stated by the Pentagon speaker John Kirby, reports CNN.
"They were quickly developed by the Air Force in response to the Ukrainian requirements," - he said.
According to a Pentagon speaker, Phoenix Ghost provides features similar to Switchblade drone systems.
"There are differences in the features of Phoenix Ghost," - said John Kirby, without specifying what are the differences in features between Switchblade and Phoenix Ghost systems.
He also said that Phoenix Ghost would require "some minimal training for experienced UAV operators," and that the U.S. Department of Defense is "working" on these requirements with the Ukrainian military.
Switchblade is a tactical attack drone aviation complex developed by the American company AeroVironment, designed to defeat the enemy by self-destruction. It can be classified as an "aircraft-shaped missile" or "killer drone" or rather "loitering munition."
Earlier, today U.S. President Joe Biden announced a new $800 million military aid package to Ukraine, saying that it is "an unmistakable message to Putin: he will never be able to dominate and occupy all Ukraine."
