Today, on 1 May, NATO launches military exercises Defender Europe and Swift Response in Poland and eight more countries of the Alliance.

RBC-Ukraine reports citing the site of Poland's Ministry of Defence.

The exercise will last almost a month.

"From 1 to 27 May of 2022, military exercises Defender Europe 2022 (DE22) та Swift Response 2022 (SR22) involving Polish soldiers will take place," – the statement reads.

Defender Europe 22 is an international joint and regular exercise organized by the U.S. Armed Forces to enhance the readiness and interoperability of the Allies and partners of the U.S. and NATO.

In general, 18 thousand troops from more than 20 countries, around 7 thousand troops, and 3 thousand vehicles of them stationed in Poland. In addition to the Polish army soldiers, troops from the U.S, France, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, and Great Britain will participate.

During the exercise, the fighters' ability to take part in a joint military operation will be tested.

"Joint exercises increase security at the eastern flank and serve for testing the procedures of troops use and their adaptation to new challenges of modern battlefield and deterrence of a potential aggressor," – the ministry mentions.

NATO General Shirreff has expressed an opinion that the West should be preparing for war with Russia to restrain Putin.
