The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, had a telephone conversation with the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
He announced this on his Twitter.
Kuleba said they were talking about the next round of sanctions against the aggressor-country, russia, which should include an oil embargo. They also focused on the issue of the evacuation of people from Mariupol.
"I talked to Josep Borrell about the next round of EU sanctions against Russia, which should include an oil embargo. I also emphasized that there can be no alternative to granting Ukraine EU candidate status. We paid special attention to further safe evacuation from besieged Mariupol," - wrote Kuleba.
The oil embargo will be the most significant new step in the sixth package of EU sanctions.
