In the direction of Severodonetsk, the battle for Rubizhne continues, reported the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The enemy is trying to improve their tactical situation, capture the city and create favorable conditions for further offensive operations in the areas of Lyman and Severodonetsk. They made an unsuccessful attempt to storm the settlement of Voevodivka. Had no success. The enemy retreated to the previous positions," reported the command.
Currently, the occupiers are most active in the directions of Slobozhansk and Donetsk.
Here is the situation in other directions as of 18.00 on May 9:
- In Volyn and Polissya, the enemy did not take active action, and there were no signs of the formation of offensive groups.
- In Siversk, the russians are maintaining border patrols at checkpoints and in the border areas of the Bryansk and Kursk regions. They also carry out engineering and fortification equipment of defense positions near the state border of Ukraine.
- In Slobozhansk, the invaders did not conduct offensive operations. They maintained defense and slowed down the advance of Ukrainian troops in the direction of the state border.
- In the Izyum direction, russian army replenishes material and technical supplies and conducts air reconnaissance. There are ongoing preparations of divisions for carrying out further offensive actions in the directions Izyum - Barvinkove and Izyum - Slavyansk.
- In the Lyman direction, the enemy is trying to advance in the areas of Oleksandrivka and Shandryholove.
- In the Bakhmut direction, the russians unsuccessfully fought in the area of the village of Toshkivka.
- In the Avdiivka direction, the russian federation is trying to improve the tactical position of its troops in the areas of the settlements of Novoselivka, Novoselivka Druha, and Verkhnotoretske. Fighting is still ongoing.
- In the Novopavlovsk and Zaporizhya directions, the occupiers are regrouping troops. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine expects an increase in enemy with the units that performed tasks in the Mariupol area.
- Regrouping of enemy units also continues in the South Bug and Tavriya directions. The invaders are increasing the fire and air defense systems, improving the engineering equipment of their positions.
- In the direction of Bessarabia in the Transnistrian region of Moldova, the situation is unchanged.
- In the Black and Azov Seas, russian ships continue to isolate the area of hostilities and conduct surveillance.
- In Mariupol, despite the declared "silence regime," the occupiers resumed shelling and assault on Azovstal.
"The enemy losses exceed the recruitment rate, which significantly affects the troops' overall moral and psychological state and pushed personnel to refuse to continue their participation in hostilities against Ukraine," the General Staff said.
Russian invaders continue to fire on settlements in the Kherson region that were previously liberated from the occupiers by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This morning, the russians shelled the border areas of the Sumy region with 20 missiles.
