Lithuania is recalling Eitvidas Bayarunas from the post of ambassador to russia, and from June 7 is going to liquidate its consulate general in St. Petersburg.

This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

Such draft of the Lithuanian government resolution was registered on May 12.

From June 1, the Lithuanian ambassador must stop performing his duties.

The Consulate General of russia was closed after the decision of Lithuania to send the head of the russian Embassy in Vilnius Alexei Isakov and the staff of the Consulate General of the russian Federation in Klaipeda back to russia.

As stated earlier, on April 4, Lithuania decided to expel the russian ambassador from the country and return to Kyiv the ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine.

In the same month, the state banned the public display of georgian ribbon and other symbols of russia's war against Ukraine.
